Whether you're seeking meaningful activities for your high schooler; experience for your college resume; or just feel motivated to give something back to your community, we'll find something to suit your needs and interests. Application
Complete the online Volunteer Services Application. If you have a specific program or location you desire to volunteer, please indicate it on the volunteer application.
Background Check - DO NOT COMPLETE ON A CELL PHONE
Code of Virginia 63.2-1509 indicates those associated with our Parks and Recreation programs are considered to be mandated reporters. Therefore, upon a successful background check, we require volunteers to take the DSS Mandated Reporting course before volunteering. This course is offered online.
View policy on background check/screening process (PDF). Once we have received the application and you have correctly submitted a background check online to NCSI, the approximate turn-around time is a week to clear you as a volunteer.
Attend Volunteer Orientation / Meeting
This will vary by program and event. Once you have officially cleared, a Recreation Supervisor will contact you to inform you of any orientation or meetings you might need to attend.
