Real Estate Taxes

The Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue is responsible for:

  • Maintaining a record for each parcel of real estate in York County, VA.
  • Producing the annual land book, which is the basis for the Treasurer’s tax bills.
  • Transferring real property according to deeds and wills recorded in the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s office.
  • Updating parcel information and creating accounts for new parcels according to plats and surveys recorded in the Clerk of the Circuit Court’s office.
  • Updating assessments as provided by the Real Estate Assessor’s office.
  • Administering real estate tax relief for the elderly, disabled, disabled veterans, and surviving spouses of military members who died in the line of duty.
  • Administering public service corporation tax as provided from the Virginia SCC and Dept. of Taxation.
  • Administering land use tax as provided by the Real Estate Assessor’s office and generating roll-back taxes when necessary.
