Responsibilities

Brian Fuller is the Deputy County Administrator.  He has oversight for the Department of Public Works, Community Services, York/Poquoson Social Services, the York County Public Library, and the Economic and Tourism Development departments. He is also responsible for overseeing the Divisions of Public Affairs and Real Estate Assessment. The Community Services Department is comprised of the divisions of Children and Family Services, Juvenile Services, Housing and Neighborhood Revitalization, and Parks and Recreation.  

Public Works’ functional areas include:  Engineering, Facility Maintenance, Fleet Services, Grounds Maintenance, Infrastructure Management, Project Inspections/Development Site Work, Stormwater, Utility Operations and Waste Management.   

Mr. Fuller represents the County on various regional boards and committees, including the Historic Triangle Recreation Facilities Authority, Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, Williamsburg Area Transit Authority, Olde Towne Medical Center, and the Economic Development Authority.  He previously served on the Greater Williamsburg Chamber, Tourism Alliance, and the Victory YMCA Board of Directors.    

About Brian Fuller

Mr. Fuller holds a Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Leisure Services, and Physical Education from Virginia Wesleyan University (1984); became a Certified Park and Recreation Professional in 1990; and is a 2015 graduate of the Historic Triangle LEAD program.  Mr. Fuller completed a Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management through Virginia Tech University in 2017, and 2019 graduated from the University of Virginia’s  Weldon Cooper Center for Public Services Leading, Educating, and Developing (LEAD) Program.

Mr. Fuller began working in York County in 1984 as a Recreation Supervisor I.  He held the positions of Recreation Supervisor II, Parks and Recreation Manager, Deputy Director of Community Services, and in 2019 was named Director.  In August of 2021, Assistant County Administrator responsibilities were added to his current position.  He has been an active member of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society (VRPS) and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) for over 39 years.
