Visit Yorktown

When You Care Enough to Visit the Very Best, Visit Yorktown

We frequently overhear visitors remarking that Historic Yorktown reminds them of a Hallmark movie. We wholeheartedly agree. However, if you are unsure whether to believe this or not, picture this:

INTERIOR - MOBJACK COFFEE ROASTERS – DAY

An attractive woman wearing a burgundy peacoat stands at the counter surveying the delicious pastries on display. The friendly cashier waits patiently for her order as the smell of freshly roasted coffee wafts through the charming interior. The woman points to a blueberry muffin and smiles.

                                MADELINE
I’ll take one of those and a hot chocolate, please.

Madeline pays for her order and sips the hot chocolate. The camera zooms in as a smile spreads across her face. She sighs happily and turns quickly around to start a day of adventures in Yorktown. Without warning, she crashes into a tall, rugged waterman wearing a khaki coat, a plaid shirt, and well-worn boots.

                                 JACK
                                Whoa! Look out!

He takes a step back and watches as hot chocolate splashes down the front of his jacket. Madeline looks on in horror as the handsome man shrugs his shoulders and reaches for a stack of napkins realizing he has just met his match.

Christmas in Yorktown

Still not convinced? Here are three more reasons why Yorktown is the perfect setting for a Hallmark movie.

1. Yorktown is a Christmas lover’s paradise!
If the Hallmark producers are wanting to add to their Christmas movie marathon, Yorktown is the place to film! Madeline and Jack can stroll down Historic Main Street shopping for holiday keepsakes at the Christmas Market on Main. Then they can take a ride on the festive holiday Trolley as it passes by the numerous historic locations in the village. Of course, the two will have to make a secret wish with Santa Claus, and they’ll have plenty of opportunities to do that at the Christmas Tree Lighting, Cookies with Santa, Breakfast with Santa, and the Mistletoe Market. We’d be remiss not to mention the romantic Enchanted Evening on Main Street where the couple can walk hand-in-hand as a light snow covers the ground. The possibilities for a kiss under the mistletoe are endless!

Riverwalk Landing

2. Yorktown’s delightful shops and delicious dining experiences are charming locations for the couple to get to know each other.
After any Hallmark meet cute, we know there is going to be series of highs and lows – especially when Jack discovers that Madeline is working for a company that plans to buy out his father’s oyster business. For shame! What better way for Madeline and Jack to navigate their new romance and save his family’s business than by seeking the help and support of our friendly shopkeepers and restaurant staff. If there needs to be a scene in a bookshop where Jack unveils his love of poetry, the delightful Yorktown Bookshop is the perfect setting. Perhaps, the two want to grab a cocktail and a quiet dinner to discuss the business deal and how to outsmart the big, bad corporation. Riverwalk Restaurant is the place! Or maybe they just need an evening of casual dining and friendly conversation with the locals. Look no further than the Yorktown Pub and Water Street Grille!

Yorktown Waterfront

3. Yorktown has an idyllic waterfront setting that is perfect for a wedding and a happy ending.
When the two finally realize that they are blissfully in love after spending only 48 hours together in the village, we know that Jack will want to purchase an engagement ring at Viccellio Goldsmith, and Alexander’s Photography will be on hand to snap engagement photos of the happy couple. The following year, their new friends will gather at the Yorktown Freight Shed for a spectacular wedding ceremony. With the iconic Coleman Bridge twinkling in the background, it’s a cinematographer’s dream.

Have we convinced you that visiting Yorktown is like stepping into a Hallmark movie? Yes? Great! Hallmark, have your people call our people!
