Neighborhoods Encouraged to Participate in Annual National Night Out
National Night Out returns on August 6, and the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office invites neighborhoods across the community to take part in this annual event that strengthens police and community partnerships. Residents are encouraged to organize neighborhood gatherings that foster connection, promote safety, and build stronger relationships with those who live nearby. The final deadline to register is July 22. Upon request, Sheriff’s Office representatives can visit your event to share crime prevention tips, hand out fun giveaways for kids, and spend time engaging with the community. Grow a Greener Lawn with Help from Healthy Virginia Lawns
The Healthy Virginia Lawns program offers York County and Poquoson residents expert guidance on maintaining their lawns in a cost-effective and environmentally responsible way. Scheduling now through August 24, and for just $20, York/Poquoson Master Gardeners will visit your property to conduct a site analysis, measure your turfgrass area, collect a soil sample, and provide customized, science-based recommendations for lawn fertilization and care. These recommendations are tailored to your yard’s specific needs, helping you achieve a healthier lawn using best management practices informed by soil test results.
