Parkway Construction Winter 2025 Update 
On or about January 29, the segment of the Colonial Parkway from Penniman Road to the Williamsburg Circle (Parkway intersects Visitor Center Drive/VA 132Y in Downtown Williamsburg) will be closed so that construction can continue safely and efficiently. Variable message boards have gone up and you are asked to please follow all posted detours and safety signage. The Colonial National Historical Park continues to post updates here. 

Tax Help Available from AARP for Local Seniors 
Once again, AARP is offering free tax preparation assistance at the Senior Center of York. Visit the Senior Center, January 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to pick up a tax packet and schedule your appointment with an AARP tax representative. Free tax preparation services begin February 1. This program is available to seniors age 55 and up. The Senior Center of York is located in the Washington Square Shopping Center (5314 George Washington Memorial Highway). For more information, please call 757-890-3444. 

Yorktown Library Hosts Monthly Genealogy Workshops 
Are you hooked on exploring your family’s history or interested in learning more? Join a group of like-minded individuals for a presentation and informal discussion at our monthly meeting on the 1st Monday at Yorktown Library. The next meeting is Monday, February 3 (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) The scheduled topic is Newspaper Research.  Feel free to bring your questions, success stories, and tips to share! For adults 18+. Seeking Participation for York County Restaurant Week 
Visit Yorktown is actively signing up local restaurants to participate in the 2nd Annual Restaurant Week February 24 to March 2. It’s the perfect way to receive free publicity, attract new customers, reward loyal clients, and showcase your establishment. If you’d like to be featured, the process is as easy as pie! First, create a unique three-course special (or discount offer) exclusive to York County Restaurant Week. Then send your menu flyer or link to where your specials or discount offer(s) lives online to tourism@yorkcounty.gov by February 10. Once you submit your specials, York County Economic & Tourism Development will post your offer(s) at visityorktown.org/restaurantweek and promote your restaurant on social media and in an e-newsletter.

Additional Notes for the Week . . . Now that construction is complete, The Waste Management Transfer Station resumed normal operations this week. Important service information and daily operating hours and can be found on their website.
