The York County Department of Public Works will hold an open house on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the proposed Route 17 Sidewalk Project & the proposed Yorktown Rd Sidewalk Project to review and discuss the plan information, answer questions, and receive citizen comments. The County is working with a design consultant and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to design sidewalks to be located on the east side of George Washington Memorial Hwy (Route 17) between Yorktown Library and tie to the existing Villas at York Condominium sidewalk, and on the south side of Yorktown Rd between the Bethel Baptist Church of Yorktown and Tabb High School. The five-foot wide concrete sidewalks will include stormwater management features and safe street design principles. This will promote safe pedestrian mobility accessible to all walks, make new connections to schools, and improve the pedestrian experience.

Project information will be available 30 days prior to the open house.
