[ARCHIVED] Ready to sink your teeth into the next #BigLibraryRead?

You can now borrow

The nights are growing longer during this magical time of year. To get into the spirit of the season, York County Public Library readers are enjoying a “coming-of-age story of family and the supernatural” for free during Big Library Read, the world’s largest digital book club. From November 2-16, booklovers with a valid York County Public Library card can join thousands of others around the globe in borrowing Olivia Stephens’s Artie and the Wolf Moon from their public library. Library card holders may read the ebook and audiobook for free without waitlists or holds on the Libby app or by visiting https://yorkcountyva.overdrive.com/, then discuss online. A discussion guide for Artie and the Wolf Moon is available to encourage in-depth conversations among 7th-12th graders.

This Big Library Read novel is available in more than 22,000 libraries around the world, including approximately 90 percent of public libraries in North America, and hundreds of thousands of readers are expected to participate. The program is facilitated by OverDrive, the leading digital reading platform for popular ebooks and audiobooks and creator of the Libby app.

In the award-winning Artie and the Wolf Moon, Artie Irvin sneaks out against her mother's wishes and spots a massive wolf—then watches it don a bathrobe and transform into her mom. Thrilled to discover she comes from a line of werewolves, Artie asks her mom to share everything—including the story of Artie's late father. Her mom reluctantly agrees and recruits some old family friends to help Artie figure out her own wolflike abilities. Artie thrives in her new community and even develops a crush on her new friend Maya. But as she learns the history of werewolves and her own parents' past, she'll find that wolves aren't the scariest thing in the woods—vampires are.

Big Library Read is an international reading program that connects readers around the world with an ebook or audiobook through public libraries. Artie and the Wolf Moon is the 32nd selection of this program which began in 2013 and takes place three times per year.

Artie and the Wolf Moon was published as an ebook and audiobook by Lerner Publishing Group. The title can be read without waitlists or holds on all major computers and devices through Libby or libbyapp.com, including iPhone®, iPad® and Android™ phones and tablets.
