Meet author Omar Abed as he presents his children's picture book, The Book That Almost Rhymed, at the Yorktown Library on September 27 at 1 p.m. The publisher's book description of The Book That Almost Rhymed says:
What do you do with an interrupting sibling? Especially when she’s stepping all over your story with wild ideas that don’t. Even. Rhyme. Knights riding rockets? Dancing pirates? Who’s ever heard of a fire-breathing armadillo?! But when this big brother realizes his sister just might be improving his yarn—and doing it with an impressive surprise of her own—it’s clear what you do with an interrupting sibling. You share the narrative! Turns out adventure is way more fun when you build it together, rhyme by daring rhyme.
After a decade spent writing software as a professional engineer, Omar rediscovered his childhood passion for storytelling. His picture books offer a generational bridge, making children laugh out loud while helping adults rediscover the magic of a good story. Omar and his family live in Northern Virginia.
This event is open to the public, and families are encouraged to attend together. Registration is required and available now through the library's Events Calendar. The first 30 families who register and attend the event will receive a complimentary copy of Omar's book, The Book That Almost Rhymed.
This event is made possible with funds from the Friends of the Library.
