The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office maintains a voluntary Police Tow List—a roster of approved towing companies authorized to respond to law enforcement towing requests within the county. Participation is based on meeting specific requirements set by the York County Towing Advisory Board, applicable York County Ordinances, relevant statues of the Code of Virginia, and sheriff’s office policies.

Approved companies operate on a rotating basis to ensure fairness and timely response. The list supports the safe and efficient removal of vehicles involved in accidents, impoundments, or other law enforcement situations.

Please note, the sheriff's office is not involved in the following types of towing situations:

  • Vehicles towed from private property at the request of the property or vehicle owner.
  • Owner/operator requests for the towing of disabled vehicles or those involved in accidents when a specific tow company has been requested by the owner/operator.
  • Repossessed vehicles.

Questions, comments, or complaints may be submitted by email, phone, or in person at the Sheriff's Office.

Companies interested in joining the Police Tow List can review the requirements via the provided links to the Sheriff’s Office policy and York County Ordinances. The Tow Application is available for download and can be submitted via email or in person at the Sheriff's Office.
